I've created an art gallery consisting of a variety of pieces that represent the female experience. As you enter the gallery, to the left you will see a list of positive affirmations. So frequently, we are brought down by the words of others and are discouraged. We forget our worth, that it is okay for us to live for ourselves and not the validation of others. All of the pieces shown in the exhibit showcase womanhood in their own unique way, just like every woman is unique. The pieces are in order chronologically from conception to adulthood. As you reach the center of the spiraled exhibit, you will notice that the center contains quotes from politicians and politically themed art pieces. As young girls grow into women, they are faced with the harsh reality that is sexism. While it is prominent across all age groups, adult women experience pressure to act a certain way and are often held to unrealistic standards. In addition to the oppression they face in their every day lives, they get hate from the politicians that are supposed to protect them. As you walk through the exhibit, picture yourself in the shoes of the woman in the painting. Regardless of personal feelings imagine you are her, because somewhere in the world, someone is living just like her.

Global Studies |
Gender inequality is a common issue across the globe but it is particularly noticeable in China. The Chinese government presents the issue of inequality as a choice that the women have made, but in reality the government is where the changes need to be made. The Prezi I created mimics the form of a mind map. As you click into the three main topics, you get more information on the issue. I chose to put the information into a Prezi so you were not overwhelmed by a lot of information at once. The Prezi keeps it organized. Much of the research used for this segment of my project was also used for art.

Rather than completing a traditional project this time, I focused on my Smart Futures college prep assignments. I created a resume and a college research essay. The college research essay details what I am looking for in a school and the three schools I chose to compare. I compared three schools all in Pennsylvania that vary drastically in their size. These three schools are Penn State University, Temple University and Point Park University.
